Dear friends,

The school has just reopened its doors, and the Maïa Academy has once again filled with the laughter and enthusiasm of the students. This new school year marks the arrival of new students joining the adventure, all welcomed in a warm and caring environment.

It’s back to school time : the kids are back at school !

Thanks to the dedication of our teachers, beautifully arranged classrooms have come to life, ready to support each child in their educational journey. The entire teaching staff was present for this school year: an emotional moment, captured by stunning photos of the opening ceremony and the award presentations.

On May 9th, the school celebrated the start of the new school year with a friendly and joyful opening ceremony, bringing together the 313 enrolled students for this new academic year, as well as the entire teaching staff. The event was marked by festive activities : student performances, traditional dances, songs, and music animated the day, under the watchful and enthusiastic eyes of the parents who were also invited.

It was also an opportunity to warmly welcome Mr. Biman Khadka, our new director, who came to take over after the retirement of the former principal. A dynamic start to the school year, for a year that we hope will be rich in learning and smiles.

The school is expanding, with the goal of reaching grade 12 equivalent to the final year of high school.

At Maïa Academy, the school expansion work is continuing to progress as quickly as possible before the monsoon, which is arriving earlier than in previous years. The foundations are now complete, and soon the first structures will emerge from the ground.

We are happy to share with you some images of this construction site. Not having the means to buy the land, we had to negotiate with several owner families to secure the land on a 10-year lease. The land in the Kathmandu valley has become overpriced; and we didn’t have the budget of 1 million euros to acquire this land adjacent to the original school.

I am delighted with the team of architects from Kathmandu advised by Camille from « Cosy Nepal »; they have made the plans and designed the best for our students according to my brief. The school will be earthquake-resistant, with sourced materials to be as ecological and « environmentally friendly » as possible.
The classrooms are designed to recover maximum heat, everything is thought out so that this extension is « eco-friendly. »

Innovating for the future with the creation of an electronics and artificial intelligence laboratory : The Maïa AI Lab.

To support this project, we launched a recruitment campaign in Kathmandu. We are pleased to welcome Megha, an IT engineer, 23 years old. We wish her lots of success.

She will be accompanied by our team, including Aymeri and Tiffany, who remain very active on a voluntary basis in the development of this curriculum. This program offers them a unique opportunity to engage in a mission at the intersection of education, technology, and solidarity.
